The explanation: MP3 files are all different bitrates. The larger bitrate songs have higher quality sound, however they take up more space. The difference is hardly noticeable even to a trained ear. Standard CD Quality is 128 kbps. This tutorial will allow you to reduce all of the songs on your iPod to 128 kbps in order to save space. [Note: This does not change the quality of the original music file on iTunes].

Step 1: Open iTunes

Step 2: Plug in your iPod

Step 3: Click on your iPod, under Devices on the lefthand panel.

Step 4: Under options, check “Convert Higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC”

Step 5: Press Sync and allow iTunes to compress your library and add the songs to your iPod. [Note: The process may take a while]

A few hours ago, I was watching Wall-E.  The most depressing movie in the world

Well probably… not really.

But my mind was somewhere else.  I missed everything, all of the sudden.

My reality came flying back, and my hope came crashing down

For the xth night in a row, my mind is dying

my heart is sailing into an abyssal pit, and the captain has blindfolds on

… I couldn’t think of anything to do

So I took a bubble bath.  A hot, steamy bubble bath.

And halfway through I broke down, begging for an answer

I went sifting through the mounds of el bano de la bubula

I know I wanted to see something, if I did

but nothing surfaced…

I was inventing images in my mind.  First I saw two people, separated

by some large stone, but what was it?

I pondered as the stone drifted into nothing

and that’s when I realized, it was a heart.

A sign?  Maybe, if only my mind and eyes could see the light

a light at the end of this miserable tunnel

But words can’t concede anything, for I am lost in a wilderness

of hate and deception

My world is turned upside down, and I am singing along, trying to draw laughter out.  I play song after song, growing more ridiculous with each one.  And by the end of the car trip, all of my spirits had regained their strength.

Today, I went to see my brother walk across the stage at Chapel Hill, NC.  First, we drove for two and a half hours-following instinct and not a GPS.  It’s funny how stubborn fathers are when you tell them to go with technology and not what the map says.  Anyway, the ceremony was short, which was good…because my patients were limited.  The auditorium was like a dejavu from my High School graduation a few months ago.  But I knew my brother had put much more effort than I ever would have had to to graduate with Chapel Hill on his diploma.  He had transferred twice, first from App State and then from UNC Charlotte, and finally ended up at one of the best universities in the country.  My brother, the drinking, pot smoking, aderol inhaling fraternity guy walked across the stage today at Chapel Hill.  Perhaps I don’t give him enough credit… he cares about me, he calls me up now and then , just to say hey.  He never used to do that.  Visiting Chapel Hill today made me a bit more optimistic about my future there.  It seems like just the kind of fresh air I need after the stale boring dome that is Blacksburg.  All I can say is Congratulations big brother, you made it!
